This article provides the words in a manner that I can agree with regarding competition and any focus on winning. There are several good points in it.

One of them…
“Discipline expands beyond sportsmanship, too. Highly disciplined teams conduct practices that are far more productive and efficient. The pace is fast, reps are plentiful and players master all facets of the sport more quickly. That kind of discipline sets a high standard for work ethic and an exceptional team culture.”

Discipline is a core emphasis in to our training be it Taekwondo or Haidong Gumdo. As long as we wear the same dobok (uniform) this should care over from the dojang (school) to the local organization to the national/international organization. If you are the star student, your training should match the concept quoted here. FYI, you are NOT the star student if you complain about others and stand around.
